Exquisite island experiences proven to be a big hit with families of all shapes and sizes.
Our carefully crafted family adventure holiday on Hawaii Island, otherwise known as the Big Island, has proved to be a big hit with families. It’s not only the largest of all the Hawaiian islands but also bursting at the seams with exquisite experiences. Choosing from a stylish selection of Hawaiian luxury villas or resorts, we can advise on one that suits your clients’ family make-up and interests. They can get ready to discover the Hawaii they have always dreamed of. From private charter boat trips to see dolphins to volcano visits, we have nature and culture covered - both in style and both inspiring.
Responsible tourism in Hawaii is at the heart of everything we do. For that reason, each of your Hawaii adventures supports an important local leader of conservation, cultural heritage or social responsibility on the islands.
Day One and Day Two
Arrival, check in and relax
Your clients will be met at Kona Airport and transferred to their chosen luxury accommodation. They can enjoy the rest of their first day on Hawaii Island by slowing down, relaxing by the pool, and adjusting to Hawaii time. On our luxury holidays, this translates to ‘taking all the time in the world.’
Private charter boat tour of Kealakekua Bay
In Hawaii, the ocean is one of the best ways to gain a real perspective of the natural beauty of our islands. On our private charter, clients can motor or sail south to Kealakekua Bay with a skipper and marine biologist who will guide them safely through our warm waters and the history, geography, and natural heritage of Hawaii. Whale watching is also a possibility between November and May, as these magnificent creatures enjoy migrating through paradise.
Day Three
Cultural Option
Visit Kohala Coast and Moʻokini Heiau
The northern coast of Hawaii Island is another world, one where you are not only transported through dramatic lava landscapes, but also back in time. Just east of Hawi, a traditional Hawaiian town, lies Kapa’au, the birthplace of King Kamehameha—the first ruler of the Kingdom of Hawaii. The town proudly hosts the first of many statues in the state honoring him, marking the start of your historical exploration.
Your next step is much further back in time, visiting the temple ruins of Moʻokini Heiau and Kohala Historical Sites State Monument, dating back to 480 A.D. and is considered one of the island’s most important sacred sites. Look, but don't touch. We will arrange to have a guide meet with you during your visit so you can better understand the culture and delve deeper into local history.
Day Three
Adventure Option
Hawaii horseback riding and ranch visit
If history isn’t going to tweak everyone’s interest on this family holiday, we offer a ranch visit where guests can enjoy horseback riding with a local paniolo, or cowboy, tradition that goes back generations in Hawaii. This adventure can be complemented by a visit to Kapa'au, home to the historic birthplace of King Kamehameha, and stop just at the end of the road for a meal with epic ocean views or continue on to the nearby Pololū Valley or Keokea State Park for an ocean-side picnic.
Children can enjoy a private visit to seahorse research center, while adults might enjoy a private tasting of Kona's famous coffee.
These visits support the Historic Hawaii Foundation
Day Four
Visit Volcanoes National Park
Hawaii hiking and helicopter touring
Visiting Hawaii Volcanoes National Park is a full-day outing and one of the most magnificent expeditions your clients will have in Hawaii. We recommend an early start for this adventure, with a choice of transport methods depending on their sense of adventure. We can arrange a helicopter ride over Kīlauea, one of the world's most active volcanoes, or provide a driver guide who will lead a road trip from Kona to the Park. Having a driver means that your clients can sit back and relax, taking in the spectacular views along the park’s iconic Crater Rim Drive and Chain of Craters Road.
For those who enjoy hiking, we can arrange a trek with an expert guide at the park or a volcanologist to visit the lava tubes and other volcanic features. During this day trip to Hawaii Volcanoes National Park, there will also be time for a visit en route for lunch at a vanilla bean farm or a tea plantation tour. The guide will recommend stops off the beaten path and sites where your clients can enjoy exceptional views. There is no shortage of both in Hawaii.
Please note that we can also arrange helicopter and hiking tours to other volcanoes on Hawaii. In addition to Kīlauea, your clients can visit Mauna Loa, Mahukona, Mauna Kea, Hualalai, and Kohala.
Day Five
Day of departure
We always recommend one last trip to the beach to take home a scent of Hawaiian surf, salt and sand, with resolutions to come back again and explore more of our archipelago’s wonders.
